French Press Brewing Guide
Follow the below instructions to brew coffee in a French Press. The amounts and measurements are for a single 12oz cup of coffee. For large presses, simply multiply the amounts for each cup.
Grind 25 grams (approx. 4 tbsp) of coffee on a medium to coarse setting. (No. 5 setting on most adjustable grinders).
Boil water 205-210°F (best if filtered).
Pre Heat glass receptacle by pouring in a small amount of hot water. Let sit for up to 30 secs and discard.
Pour in coffee grinds and add 400 grams of water. Agitate the grinds by stirring a few times with a spoon.
Wait 5 mins before pushing down the plunger and pour into drinking vessel or decanter immediately. Even with plunger down, coffee will continue to steep and can become over extracted if left longer than 5 mins creating an unpleasant bitter taste.
Serve and enjoy!
